Dan and Linda, Louis and I, and the
kids are sitting around a dinner table and smiling
at the camera. It is a fairly recent photo, and as
I hold it in my hand, I feel a sense of warmth and
wonder. Today the kids are teens, and I am living
with them in our big house in the mountians. This
next year I'll take them with me to visit our Costa
Rican farm that I bought last year. I lounge back
in the home office chair of "SkyFor", the
company I created shortly after my divorce. SkyFor
just got a four-year contract with one of it's biggest
clients, and I joke to my kind and genenerous partnerLouis
that a six-figure income is kinda nice to have.
Skyler, now 18, gives me a warm hug
when I walk though the door. I tell him about how
joyful I felt today while riding the big bay thoroughbred
mare who lives on the thousand-acre ranch near my
home. Forrest, almost 15 now, tells me in his teenager-way
that my clothes look dumb, and then shows me his latest
art project, and how he's brought up some of his grade
in math...
It's been twelve years since my divorce,
and I feel very fortunate. But I didn't always feel
